Steeped in Magical Realism and lore, this inaugural work by Alex Paramo contains a bilingual audio-track to go along with a wonderful story appropriate for children of all ages!
On this Mother’s Day weekend, i’m poking my head into the World Wide Web (does anyone even call it that anymore?) to send some love to great friend, visual artists and fellow author Audrey McNamara.
I first met Audrey a few years back when she was visiting Albuquerque on a road-trip away from Venice Beach, CA where she was located. Originally from Denver, Audrey set up shop in Venice Beach and became a prominent artistic figure of that community. I was in need of an illustrator for my first Children’s book, Princess Marisol & The Moon Thieves and Audrey fit the bill! She did an amazing job and she subsequently went on to illustrate my 2nd book, Princess Marisol & The Portal. Audrey also became great friends with my daughter, award winning Author Marisol Paramo. Marisol won the Children’s Book of the Year, 2017 for her bilingual Children’s Book, Bella The Caterpillar.
Audrey has her own little girls now and she is one of the best mother’s I have ever known. Under tremendous duress she has managed to be the strength and wisdom in her daughters’ lives. As the product of a single-mom, I know exactly what her struggles are and she handles those struggles with grace, dignity and perseverance.
Audrey has written and illustrated her own book, a Graphic Novel, The Mission. You can purchase via pre-sale below. Your purchase not only helps Audrey but also helps Community Publishing and arts at the grass-roots level. I thank you for your support and thank Audrey and mother’s like her who lead by example and exemplify the kind of person we should all aspire to be like, regardless of our gender. – Alex P – Co-Founder, Community Publishing.

Of course, positivity is easy when things are going as planned. But the useful tool that a positive attitude is- pleasant when things are well- is crucial when things are not going our way. Terrible to be told a positive attitude is a choice… And what to do with that information? Laying the responsibility back on our laps. Always a struggle- life. Always another harsh reality. True. But with practice this can become more instinctual and less of a chore. And, indeed, there is a euphoric uplift, a strength, a feeling of triumph. Gratefulness against all odds.
Divinity like yellow sunglasses, casts a new shade over everything. It is the decision and then the practice and make effective gratefulness. Plowing through hardship with positivity- there is power in that.
My children and i give thanks to all my fans and supporters. Visit my website.

I must admit I was surprised that LeBron James would sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Perhaps I was holding out hope that LeBron, being the baller with the highest bball IQ,, would sign with the team that offered him the best chance to defeat the Golden State Warriors, ie.. the Houston Rockets. What led me to my delusional conclusion? Well here are a few reasons:
LeBron wants to be remembered as the GOAT
LeBron has tons of money so he doesn’t need to break the bank
LeBron really wants to beat the Golden State Warriors
LeBron is 33
Because I wanted him to join the Houston Rockets to beat the Golden State Warriors
Business As Usual
Many will point out that LeBran left 30 Million on the table with Cleveland but that is a drop in the bucket compared to what he will be reaping in endorsement deals from sponsors in the nation’s 2nd biggest media city.
I am not a LeBron hater, far from it, but I do root for the integrity of the game. Perhaps its a foregone conclusion that within a capitalist system where the emphasis is on profits, integrity in sports cannot exist in terms of players and owners loyalty to each other. There was a time, not long ago, where a fan could name the majority of players on their favorite teams and most of those players would be on that team for several seasons.
Next season the Lakers will cobble a few players around LeBron and watch as he uses his incredible talent(s) to catapult the Lakers into a playoff spot. Of course LeBron will once again lose to the Golden State Warriors, if they make it that far (see the Houston Rockets). In the end it will be enough for the Lakers $$$ wise as they significantly raised ticket prices! *Read more of my articles here

Each year a different National Section of IBBY has the opportunity to be the international sponsor of ICBD. It decides upon a theme and invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world and a well-known illustrator to design a poster. These materials are used in different ways to promote books and reading. Many IBBY Sections promote ICBD through the media and organize activities in schools and public libraries. Often ICBD is linked to celebrations around children’s books and other special events that may include encounters with authors and illustrators, writing competitions or announcements of book awards.” – Wikipedia Article

I’m fragmented ..
We are all fragments, mere laments and distress
We are all universally fragments of darkness
The universe is 68% dark-matter and 32% madness
I am a fragment ..
Trapped in the judgement
.. of the misunderstood
Through the cracks of what once was
and what will never be again
I remain hidden in that slow space
where the light kisses the night goodbye
and a new day of confusion unfurls ..
Fragments make up the world
Torments make up my memories
.. and shrapnel and cold steel are all I can feel
with pieces of pierced skin on my tongue ..
My heart lies quick, still ..
.. still ..
.. in shreds ..
