Summer SolsticeThe Summer Solstice is when the summer begins in the Northern Hemisphere and for us living in Mountain Time Zone that moment is “officially” occurs at 4:51 AM on Saturday, June 21. Known as Litha in many pagan traditions, there are many celebrations that take place around the globe and and in many creative ways.

Summer SolsticeIn Northern European countries, Midsummer is a very important celebration that revolves around the Summer Solstice. Sometime known as St. John’s Day, this celebration is as important as Christmas and New Years Day. The celebration is often celebrated with bonfires and there is usually a clear inter-mingling with Christian rituals.

The Live Arts Zone is deeply honored to welcome our very own Ramona Snow Teo Graphic Designer, Co-Founder and Manager of Albuquerque’s Guerrilla GraphiX  Ramona will be joined by gifted local Artist Hammon Buck for an all day Mandala set that will knock your socks off and inspire the Sacred Mind.

Summer Solstice MasksIn the Children’s Zone, super artist and educator Stephanie Galloway will be making animal masks to welcome the Summer! These wonderful fun masks will be decorated by children in whatever stylings their creative minds inspire them to. Come join Stephanie in the Children’s Zone!

Seed Jewelry Summer SolsticeThe Traditional Zone will be featuring Seed Blossoms Art Seed Jewelry. “Seeds. The entire life of a plant contained in a little tiny package, a miracle waiting to unfold. These pieces celebrate the miniature miracles that link the cycles of life together.” These awesome artists want to bring attention to the plight of seeds, invaluable life crucial to our existence, that are decreasing in genetic diversity due to corporate exploitation.

Children’s Books

Not only does reading enhance a child’s vocabulary, and to help them understand how to read and write, but reading aloud to children also helps them to understand different topics about the world and every day life. Despite some modest gains in the area of story representation, less than 8% of Children’s Books were authored by people of color.

Therefore we are committed to continuing to provide opportunities to Authors, Illustrators and Musicians of color. Additionally our commitment to diversity extends to our partners in recording studios and voice acting.

At Community Publishing our mission is to promote literacy, diverse literature and supporting local arts. Our books feature multimedia technology that allow for audio – narration/music therefore our books serve as learning tools for children of all ages! Community Publishing – Mission / Vision

At Community Publishing our passion is to bring artists of all mediums together in collaborative projects for Multimedia Publishing which culminate in printed books, blogs and podcasts. Our MISSION is to provide Southwestern artists (of all mediums) from underrepresented communities with a global platform, promoting these artists within their community. Additionally we aim to build and foster relationships the above mentioned artists. We are dedicated to promoting literacy and the arts through our Multimedia Books. All of our Multimedia Books are available in print and digital formats, are in English and Spanish and contain educational components to stimulate the imagination of our readers.

Our VISION is to bring books, blogs and podcasts that are diverse in both content and the artists that create them to the general public at large. We work with visual artists, musicians, writers, voice actors, and animators intentionally seeking out these folks from underrepresented communities. Additionally our protagonists are representative of the community at large. We utilize recording studios around the Southwest to bring audio into our print books through the use of digital technologies. Our blog articles leverage the knowledge of artists of all mediums on subjects they are passionate about. Our VISION is to create a national and global platform for the work of these talented Southwest artists (of all mediums) that will expand their audiences while promoting the unique culture of the Southwest. Utilizing digital, traditional technology, time proven methods and grass roots support, we are well on our way towards achieving our goals.

Community Publishing is a locally owned and operated Publishing company based in Albuquerque, New Mexico but serving communities everywhere. We work with local artists of all mediums in creative collaborations, that result in Multimedia Books that promote literacy in our communities. We also have a Digital Marketing division, Indigenous Grafix, that specializes in creating an affordable, customized internet presence for small and start-up businesses.

What are Multimedia Books?

multimedia eBookSometimes referred to as an Enhanced Books, a Multimedia Book contains multimedia elements such as but not limited to: audio, video, illustrations, photographs, literature to name a few. They allow for creative collaborations among artists of all mediums. Some interactivity is found such as: clickable links, hyperlinks, some animated elements. Multimedia Books allow for multisensory learning which is at the forefront in the development of new learning methodology and technology. We also offer print versions of our books. The print versions preserve the multimedia audio elements through the use of a QR Code.

What makes us Different?

We are locally based and committed to community building and our community members. Unlike most other publishers, everything we do is a true collaborative effort beginning from the ground up! Decisions are made together, royaltiesShop Local are shared equally and all artistic rights are reserved. When you purchase one of our multimedia eBooks, you are contributing to the local economy. We use locally based talent for all of our projects. Our creative collaborators are our community members just like you! Additionally, we spend countless hours presenting our multimedia eBooks at Public Schools, Charter Schools and Community Centers in an effort to expose people from all sectors of the community to multimedia eBooks and the technology used in making them. 

What we do?

We develop creative concepts by bringing together artists of all mediums in creative collaborations. Our team moves forward and we publish these collaborative projects as multimedia books in both digital and print formats. 

History

Community Publishing (CP) LLC., was founded by Alex Paramo and Yvette Sandoval in January 2015. In April 2016, Sebastian Pais was named as the Director for Latin American & Bilingual Initiatives. The impetus behind the founding of CP was threefold:

  • To promote literacy among children/adults utilizing multimedia technology
  • To create collaborative space for local artists of all mediums – illustrators, poets, musicians, writers…
  • To promote local business by utilizing the services of community-based businesses at-large (audio engineers, photographers, printers…)
